Neutral lip colours are ideal for those who don't like brights, who prefer a natural, fresh look and for those who like to stick to tried and tested shades. Choosing a lip colour can be challenging at times, having to match the colour to an outfit and to your complexion can be tricky. Neutral shades are always fabulous and I have also noticed that they often make an appearance on catwalks and in campaigns.
What's the difference between nude and neutral?
Nude shades will over-ride the colour of your lips, where neutral shades are those that are very similar (if not identical) to the colour of your lips. 'Neutral' is different for every set of lips so choosing the right shade is a task that can take a while.
What to avoid?
The biggest mistake with neutral lip colours is a shade that is too light for your lips and your complexion. This will make you look older, washed out and more tired than you actually are (no thanks!) – which is the total opposite of what we want. When you find your ideal natural shade it can do wonders for a simple, elegant look and it can really lift a dramatic smokey look.
How to find your ideal neutral shade?
Finding this ideal shade can be hard – you will have to kiss many frogs to find your prince. You have to get out there and try as many shades as possible until you find one that makes you look fresh, glowing and effortlessly gorgeous.
