Layering starts with the lightest product in the routine, which is usually tonic.
Use tonics that don't contain alcohol because it can age the skin. Apply only a small amount on the entire face with your fingers or on a cotton pad. They help to hydrate the skin and intensifies the serum. Try Kiehl's-ov Calendula Herbal Extract tonic without alcohol.
The second step is serum. Apply serum by taking a small amount, pea size, and apply it to damp skin. You can use it every day or, if necessary, and if you notice something is going on with your skin. Serums can be used by purpose so we can fight wrinkles, external stress, premature aging, redness, etc. Serum can also refresh the skin, nourish it and even lighten. Collistar Even Finish Hydro serum is excellent for dry skin that needs extra refreshments throughout the day.
Moisturizer cream comes after the serum and it actually protects the skin from external influences while maintaining all quality ingredients from escaping the skin. Reapply if necessary, gently massage desired ammount into the face, neck and chest. This will prevent the premature appearance of wrinkles on the neck and chest area. Excellent everyday moisturizer cream with anti age properties is Avene PshysioLift cream.
Eye cream is the next step and it is easily recognized by having denser texture than regular cream. Use in very small quantities in the area around the eyes and don't apply the cream right under the eye. The cream is absorbed into the skin therefore it is not necessary to apply directly under the eyes. Most creams have anti-aging ingredients, but many of them also have a reflective, lightening attributes or may contain ingredients that fight swollen eye circles. Currently I'm in love with Shiseido Future Solution FX that you can use on the sensitive area around the eyes and around your mouth.
Above all it is necessary to protect the skin from the harmful effects of the sunlight and despite the fact that maybe some of the previous products contain SPF, it doesn't hurt to add a little more. Apply the cream with SPF all over your face, avoiding the area right under your eye. I prefer the minimum SPF of 30, for which I often use La Prairie Cellular Swiss moisturizer.
