The main culprit are the essential oils found in facial oils. With the dramatic increase in the use of oil in the day and night care of facial care, dermatologists have come to realize that more and more occurrence of redness, irritation, inflammatory processes and rashes on sensitive skin is attributed to the low tolerance of essential oils.
Some of the ingredients of certain essential oils, such as those in bergamot, are converted into chemical compounds that, when exposed to sunlight, can cause an allergic response. It is a photo-sensitive chemical compound that, when exposed to sunlight, can damage the surface of the skin, thereby weakening its protective function.
However, all essential oils or their concentrations cannot be considered problematic. Essential oils also have smaller molecules that penetrate the skin faster, providing a high level of nutrients in the short term. Most essential oils are combined with cheaper, oxidized oils or mixed with alcohol or turpentine to increase volume, which could affect product performance and lead to reactions. This leads to the problems of other components and ingredients that can make the skin reactive.
Increasing the incidence of irritation in the market there are more and more brands that focus on oil production that will contain extremely little or no essential oils. Most of these brands are based on the assumption that the oil imbalance is one that creates problems for sensitive skin.
Brands such as Peet Rivko, Oille, Less have created formulas whose minimalism is impressive. This is a new level of vegan, organic products that are deprived of toxins and preservatives (parabens, sulphates, phthalates, silicones and petroleum products) but also avoid essential oils that may be problematic for those with hypersensitive skin.
The Peet Rivko brand is an American brand created in response to brands that use strong ingredients, perfumes and well-known irritants such as essential oils, flower extracts, nut oil. Even though these oils are mostly found in natural, organic and vegan products, they can often be problematic for sensitive skin.
Oille brand is another American brand based on the foundations of high purity essential oils that are not contaminated with additional ingredients that can harm sensitive skin.
Less, the German brand leads its philosophy by minimalism. The gaps of this brand are pure formulations, but also non-water-containing formulations, which allows for no emulsifiers and preservatives. With the same effect they have eliminated all the components that are usually added to affect the smell and texture.
