We often hear that make-up is just a mask with the sole purpose of beautification. Fortunately, this is far from the truth. When you put on makeup, you feel different, right? Make-up is truly a powerful tool that can build up self-esteem.
Working with women of different ages and profiles, I have noticed that by the time we finish the whole makeup routine, even if only for a moment, they tend to become more self-confidante and become the person who thinks anything and everything is possible. This is especially noticeable after my clients master the skill of make-up application. Especially when they master techniques which help them cover all the imperfections on their skin, which is the main reason why they sometimes feel unsafe. And of course, once they master the makeup part, they look better and feel better. Ask any woman how she feels after perfecting that eyeliner, with a series of trial and error. Or even when they find the right shade of foundation. They will all say they feel more confident, secure and powerful. These are precisely the emotions that should be a result from a good, well applied make-up. With the desire to create a strong sense of confidence, that surpasses only a memorable makeup look, I have compiled a list of key summer cosmetic skills that I think every woman should master. It can be taught without any difficulties and it will further strengthen your personality and beauty.
Look healthy
Dive right into your summer make-up adventure with bronzers that will help you look healthy and tanned. The first step is picking out a right product, which should be only a shade or two darker than the color of your skin. Avoid bronzers with orange undertones, but be on a look out for those with golden undertones. Using a blush brush and soft strokes, apply bronzer on the cheeks, swipe gently over the nose and onto the cheekbones. Then with a larger brush, that you need to tap off to remove excess product, go just under the hair line, the edge of the forehead to the temples and finish under the chin. Apply the product slightly under the ear. This will be a crucial step to soften the contrast between your new bronze complexion and neck color.
Less is more
Light and breezy makeup days are coming and we should start wearing our makeup in a minimal and natural way. To get that “wow” effect with your summer make-up, apply the so-called "light catchers” to highest points of the face. Use your fingertips to pat on creamy illuminator to skin – on to the tops of cheekbones, just under the eyebrows and down your nose. Highlighting those parts can create prominent cheekbones, it can open your eyes and brighten the complexion. Journey from scary smeared raccoon eyes to defined look is a short one, because there is only one step and that one is waterproof mascara. If you get irritated by waterproof mascara, just take a plain old transparent one and apply it on top of the black one. For lower lashes, apply only transparent mascara.
Chic summer night
Often we end up at a cocktail or dinner party after long days at the beach. Sometimes it's hard to find enough time to fit in a perfect winged liner or visit to the hairdresser, but there is no reason to feel sticky, sweaty and sandy all night long. Fix it by hopping under the shower at the beach and apply moisturizer to cool the skin down. It will reduce redness and irritation caused by sun and sand. If you want to even out your complexion, hide the problem areas by applying super lightweight foundation. Try avoiding dark tones and eyeshadows and opt for metallic, shiny, gold or cream eyeshadows. Apply them with fingers. To transform your evening look to the next level, apply a glossy lipstick with intense color by patting it onto the lips. A little color on the lips is a great way of adding chic.
Lazy summer days
If you feel too hot during summer and you stay away from the sun, or you have to stay in town and you are not a big fan of ghost white complexion, reach for a bottle of self-tanning creams that will give a healthy shade of sun-kissed skin. Before applying make sure to exfoliate the skin, face and body, and quench your skin with lotions and creams. After it is well absorbed, massage the self-tanning cream. And don’t forget to wash your hands at the end. Even though you may not like the sun, try walking in the late afternoon an early morning, just to get a healthy dose of sunlight for body and mind.
